Broken Heart

If you are a teacher you know the joy of being able to be with your children more than mothers who have a 12-month full-time job. Luckily, Christmas is one of those times of year. I just had two weeks with my three little boys. However, my tiny vacation ended yesterday. We had a staff workday and today is the first day for students to return.

Last night I think my heart shattered in a million tiny pieces. Since we are going back to work, the kids also have to get back to their routine of going to much-loved Ms. Penny's. Yesterday went fine. Everyone got up and got ready without grumbling (except for Reid not wanting to brush his teeth!). Last night when bedtime came at 8:00 Reid's big brown eyes welled up with tears and that bottom lip quivered and in the tiniest voice said, "I want to stay at home with my daddy. I don't want to go to Ms. Penny's." It was so pitiful!!! He said it a few more times and a HUGE tear finally slid down his face. If you know us, you know my husband is not at home much during the year, especially the fall. Football just ended and now with their daddy at home for two weeks, they became very attached to him. Even little Layne, who has always, without an shadow of a doubt, been a Momma's Boy. For the first time ever, Layne went to his daddy when he got hurt. If they couldn't find their daddy in the house, they went ballistic! Every time Ritchie got up and got dressed they asked where he was going and if they could go. It just goes to show how quickly momma's babies can become daddy's boys. I probably would have quit my job this morning if Reid wanted to stay at home with me!

Poor Momma!
Little Micheal didn't complain at all about going to Briley's for the first time in two weeks this morning at all! Maybe he was thinking his daddy was there instead of at home, since he's been a total Daddy's boy this break, too!

And, no, you won't quit your job, or else you'd lose your car! :)
